Rumored for months, even years, DJI's folding drone has become a reality. The DJI Flip is therefore the latest arrival of camera drones from the market leader and certainly a product that could carry weight. Compact and lightweight (249 g), it integrates foldable propellers that save space when transporting it and, by extension, makes it very easy to store. Very often, changing format involves compromises in terms of quality or performance, but the success of the Flip is perhaps in managing to offer the same level of performance as with a classic drone, such as the Mini 4K or the Mini 3 from the same manufacturer.
And for good reason, in terms of video capture, the Flip is on par with its elders with the integration of a 1/1.3-inch 48 MP CMOS sensor capable of capturing 4K videos. Specifically, the DJI Flip will be able to record HDR videos in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, but it is also able to take slow motion in 4K/100 fps. As for vertical formats, favored on social networks, DJI highlights the 4:3 CMOS sensor that allows cropping and a resolution of up to 2.7 K.
Small, foldable, but no less powerful
For the rest, we find on this new folding drone the technologies present on the other DJI models with, among others, the MasterShots that allow you to automatically perform certain camera movements, Hyperlapse, useful when you want to do timelapse, or FocusTrack that integrates several options for tracking the subject.
On the technical sheet side, the Flip also looks pretty solid with a battery life of 31 minutes according to its manufacturer, but also an automatic braking system that also works at night. As usual, the DJI drone works with the manufacturer's remote controls, in this case the RC-N3 or RC-2 models, as well as with the DJI Fly application.
Available for sale today, the DJI Flip will be offered in two versions, alone with its remote control (RC-2) at a price of 639 euros or in a bundle in a "Fly more" offer, with two batteries at 779 euros.
