Unlike Apple, which has just announced its entry-level smartphone at 719 euros, Samsung is selling affordable smartphones under 200 euros.

In France, the manufacturer's leading champion is currently called the Galaxy A05s. But the Korean brand has just unveiled a new smartphone for the Indian market that could take over: the Galaxy A06 5G. This is a 5G version of the Galaxy A06, presented previously.

Already One UI 7!

Notably, the smartphone is coming out with One UI 7, the same interface as the Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra, even though the Galaxy S24 is still being shunned by the Korean brand. The smartphone may be missing out on many advanced features, but it does benefit from the new interface based on Android 15 when not all of the manufacturer's high-end smartphones can say the same.

In terms of design, the photos of the Galaxy A06 5G could be misleading with stripes on the back and all the markers of a classic Galaxy A. All, except for one thing: it lacks a camera module on the back. Samsung has indeed become accustomed to marketing smartphones with at least three modules for several years. Here, you will only be entitled to a 50 Mpx wide-angle camera and a depth sensor.

Savings on all levels

Sold at the price of 12,999 Indian rupees (i.e. 143 euros excluding VAT), the Galaxy A06 5G necessarily makes significant savings. The most visible is around the screen, whose borders spread out considerably, in particular on the chin of the phone, or around the selfie camera where we see the famous U-notch.

The screen itself exudes economy, with a 6.7-inch HD+ panel (720 x 1600), all based on LCD technology. On the market, the standard, even at the entry level, is now higher with at least a FullHD resolution and possibly Oled.

This new Galaxy integrates a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip, necessarily very entry-level, and a relatively large 5000 mAh battery, charged at 25 W. It is also IP54 certified, which protects it from dust and water, but without guaranteeing its total immersion. Finally, the Galaxy A06 5G will benefit from 4 years of major updates and security. A clue that suggests that it should not be released in Europe, given that the old continent is preparing to impose 5 years of updates starting in June 2025.
