If you expect a 32 inch iMac, all hope is not lost

Since the 27-inch iMac was discontinued, Apple has said it won’t be coming back in that form factor. However, several sources believe that a larger model could be in the works. Rumors have it that a 32-inch iMac is coming in 2025, although nothing has been confirmed yet. So should we expect an XXL iMac?

A XXL iMac wouldn’t be completely ruled out

When the iMac M3 was launched in November 2023, Apple made it clear that a new 27-inch iMac was not planned. However, the company has never ruled out the idea of a larger model. Recent reports suggest that a larger iMac may still be in the works.

In response to questions about a possible return of the 27-inch iMac, Apple told The Verge that the model will not be reintroduced. The company sees the 24-inch iMac as an ideal compromise between older form factors. However, this statement only applies to the 27-inch model. Apple has never ruled out the possibility of a larger iMac, fueling speculation that a model could go up to 32 inches.

Apple Still Interested in Pro Market

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, in his Power On newsletter, claims that Apple remains interested in the professional market and that a 32-inch iMac could be in the future. He already specified in August 2023 that such a project was being explored, without specifying whether it would be an M4 model or a more distant launch.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had also mentioned in 2023 the potential arrival of a 32-inch iMac with a mini-LED screen in 2025. Since then, little information has leaked, which suggests a postponement, but not necessarily an abandonment of the project. If Apple has definitively ruled out a return of the 27-inch model, the idea of a larger iMac remains plausible. However, according to the latest rumors, such a product would probably not see the light of day before 2025, or even later. Wait and see…
