New official figures confirm the success of Meta Ray-Ban connected glasses

During a meeting with his troops (which should not have been leaked), Mark Zuckerberg had indicated that Ray-Ban connected glasses had sold more than a million units last year. It is now EssilorLuxottica's turn, Meta's partner in this adventure and owner of the brand, to announce the first real official figures for this product range.

EssilorLuxottica plans huge production capacities

Francesco Milleri, the boss of the Franco-Italian eyewear manufacturer, revealed that Ray-Ban connected glasses had reached the mark of 2 million pairs sold since the launch of the current range in October 2023. A volume that seems to indicate that sales were particularly dynamic in the last quarter, probably around a million units.

Added to this is a retention time that has lengthened over time, a sign that users are making use of the connected functions (Meta adds them very regularly). It is "a great success" rejoiced the manager, a success that will push EssilorLuxottica to improve its production capacities: by the end of 2026, the manufacturer will produce 10 million per year! The prospects are therefore very well oriented towards this product.

The two partners were not mistaken, by broadcasting during the SuperBowl an advertisement featuring three "chris" (Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth and Kris Jenner) wearing the famous glasses.

The previous range (Ray-Ban Stories) had a much less resounding success: only 300,000 units.

With such results, it goes without saying that Meta intends to go all out and multiply the models. Rumor has it that an Oakley version for athletes is planned for this year, and that another will include a screen capable of displaying notifications.
