For once, a new PS5 software update is available in beta. It brings features requested by players, but not everyone will be able to take advantage of them. Among the most notable additions are custom 3D audio profiles for headsets and headphones, remote play for individual users, and adaptive charging for controllers.
Audio and gameplay
The first new feature is the configuration of custom 3D audio profiles. With this feature, each player can now create a tailor-made 3D audio profile, optimized according to its unique hearing characteristics. This technology, compatible with peripherals such as the PULSE Elite wireless headset, allows for improved sound immersion, adjusting the audio for a more precise perception of in-game elements.
The second new feature concerns remote play. The update also allows for customization of the settings of this feature for each console user. This allows players to decide who has access to this function, offering more control over their console and their remote gaming sessions.
A questionable
Finally, Sony announces the arrival of adaptive controller charging. This feature automatically adjusts the charging time of the controllers in rest mode, thus optimizing energy consumption. However, it is not available to all beta participants. To take advantage of it, you will need to have gotten your hands on one of the brand new PS5 models, the ones with the white shell cut in two.
This restriction means that users of the first versions of the console will not be able to benefit from this feature, which may seem unfair to those who have already invested in a PS5 and did not want to part with it when the second version was released. This differentiation could displease part of the community, especially since no hardware differentiation justifies this decision.
First available in beta version, the software update is accessible only by invitation to players from certain selected countries. They will receive an email informing them of their participation in the beta, and the update will be done automatically on their console. You will of course have to give your feedback to the manufacturer if you are part of the program, so that they can take into account the comments of the players on the field.
