Samsung has not taken the turn that many hoped for with the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, limiting itself to very slight improvements. This lack of innovation is to the delight of its main competitors and one observation is clear for the South Korean giant. It is necessary to innovate and not just react as Samsung tried to do by unveiling the Galaxy Z Fold SE in certain regions. New information, coming from an informant known as Setsuna Digital on Weibo, indicates that a wind of novelties is preparing on the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The manufacturer's next folding smartphone would bring significant improvements. Compared to its predecessor, it would be entitled to a new camera under the screen which should improve the rendering of selfies and during video calls. At the screen level, Samsung would offer a new hinge mechanism and a panel which almost entirely eliminates the fold. Other rumors mention a thinner design and the possible removal of the S Pen stylus.
Screen, photo, chip, autonomy... improvements in many areas
On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold7 would keep the same 4400 mAh battery as its predecessor. A choice which could disappoint It may seem like a first glance, but battery capacity is not the only indicator to improve the autonomy of a device. Optimizations and energy efficiency of components also play a very important role. According to leaker @PandaFlashPro on X, the Galaxy Z Fold 7's display will be very efficient and consume less energy to improve autonomy. In addition, the smartphone would integrate the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip and its presence would help to gain up to 55 minutes of autonomy.
In photography, the folding smartphone would also experience a major improvement. It could offer a 200 megapixel main photo sensor and catch up with the Galaxy Ultra range. This upgrade would represent a significant leap compared to the previous model, the Galaxy Z Fold6 being equipped with a 50-megapixel sensor.
For French users, Samsung's next Z Fold would above all be an opportunity to discover the innovations brought by the Galaxy Z Fold SE. Only available in South Korea and China, this model already includes the 200 Mpx wide-angle photo sensor and larger screens: 8 and 6.5 inches, compared to 7.6 and 6.3 inches on the Z Fold6. Its design remains close to its predecessor, but it is much thinner when folded (10.6 mm compared to 12.2 mm). The thinness, already visible on models like the Honor Magic V3 or the Huawei Mate X6, will be one of the big trends of the year 2025 on foldables.
When will it be announced?
Samsung has not yet confirmed officially the existence of the Galaxy Z Fold7. The manufacturer should unveil this new model during the summer, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip7 and a probable Galaxy Z Flip FE.
