Images of a new Xbox Series X have just leaked and they do not at all confirm the rumors that have been circulating for several months. Last year, a general leak at Microsoft had leaked the firm's plan for its next Xbox accessories and consoles. We then saw a model of Xbox Series revisited for the mid-generation, which is fast approaching. But it seems that in the meantime, the firm has radically changed his plans.
Indeed, the images shared by Exputer show a console that is much less different than what we thought we would see. We see an Xbox Series X, exactly the same format as the current model, abandoning its black shell for a white one and doing without its disc player. The images show us the front and back of the console, which present us with the perfect cross between the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S.
Change of strategy at Microsoft?
However, this is not the project that reached us only a few months ago. In the slideshow that Microsoft unfortunately published on the FTC website, we could see a smaller, black console with a cylindrical shape. This one was also supposed to be without a disk drive and offer us increased performance: 2TB storage capacity, WiFi 6E, 4K Gen9, everything promised to make us buy this revisited console supposedly marketed at the same price as the old one from October.
During the leak, Microsoft had clearly specified that these were old plans and that things had changed a lot internally. Between the marketing language and the troubled period that the company was going through, gamers decided to mostly believe these leaks. The images that contradict them today should be taken with just as much caution. We will have to wait for an official announcement from the brand before getting carried away.
If this white Xbox Series X arrives, it will join the ranks of a range faithful to itself from start to finish. In addition to the classic model that exists today, as well as the white Xbox Series S, which is smaller and without a disc drive, Microsoft is offering a black Xbox Series S, in the same format as the first version, but with a storage capacity of 1TB.
So all that's missing is one model to complete this collection, although we would have greatly appreciated a final effort on the design from Xbox to relaunch the second half of the generation. Especially since other manufacturers' plans seem to be getting going and the expected proposals already exceed what was expected.
