The Nintendo Switch 2 will be retrocompatible according to the leaks

The year continues to pass, and we are inevitably getting closer to the moment that millions of players have been waiting for. Nintendo has still not announced its next generation of console, but it can't be long, especially if we take into account the many leaks that have occurred in recent months. Of all the supposed characteristics of the Nintendo Switch 2, one has always been as uncertain as it is a source of concern.

Fortunately, we learn from the latest rumors that the question of backward compatibility may have found its solution. The site Universo Nintendo (available in Portuguese) states that titles from the previous generation (the current Nintendo Switch) will indeed be playable on the next console via backwards compatibility. This applies to digital games, but also physical games. We can therefore imagine that the cartridge port will indeed be the same from one generation to the next.

But that's not all. According to sources, Nintendo Switch games will not only be accessible, but also optimized, just as many PS4 and Xbox One games have been optimized for the PS5 and Xbox Series. They should therefore benefit from a better processor, although nothing official is known about it at the moment. All of this information should actually be taken with a grain of salt before Nintendo confirms.

When will the Nintendo Switch 2 be announced?

While there is a lot of speculation surrounding the release date of the Nintendo Switch 2, it would already be necessary to know when the console will be unveiled to the public. The same Portuguese media outlet states that a Nintendo Direct will take place this week. Fans are particularly excited because it would not be the first time that he has managed to predict the arrival of this type of event. According to him, the console should be announced during the month of March, for a release before the end of the year. This would respect Nintendo's usual deadlines, which had announced its original Nintendo Switch less than a year before its release.

The highlight remains the potential upcoming Pokémon presentation. This would be planned within the next two weeks to announce the next opus. It is still possible that the latter will accompany the Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch game. In addition to the tweezers, we will have to arm ourselves with a little patience before learning more officially.
