The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is still showing and it is salivating

As the Mobile World Congress 2025 approaches, Xiaomi announces an event on March 2. The Chinese manufacturer plans to present the Xiaomi 15 series and one model could cause a sensation: the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The brand's future flagship model has been the talk of the town for a few weeks and is shaping up to be the big rival of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, iPhone 16 Pro (Max) or Honor Magic7 Pro at the start of the year. This version focuses on mobile photography and the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be no exception.

Its two-tone look is inspired by Leica

After a first batch of images at the end of January, new leaks show the design of the new Ultra smartphone. From the site Android Headlines to the social network Weibo via the Russian media Mobiltelefon, the latest leaks show a model largely inspired by the world of photography. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra would exist in a two-tone and two-material finish, with a retro aesthetic that greatly recalls that of Leica cameras. The choice will not surprise anyone since the German photo specialist is Xiaomi's partner, after having been Huawei's for a few years. This two-tone look, clearly inspired by Leica, is the most interesting part of this model's design.

In white or black, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is more classic and quite close to an Honor Magic7 Pro.

These shots also confirm the presence of an imposing circular photo block at the back. The layout of the lenses inside seems different from that seen on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the whole thing looks even more imposing than on the current model.

An impressive technical sheet

According to Android Headlines, the future Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature Qualcomm's powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It will feature a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 and an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. It will be protected by the Xiaomi Shield Glass 2.0. Its 5410 mAh battery will support 90W wired fast charging, 80W wireless fast charging and 10W reverse fast charging.

On the photo side, it would have four cameras on the back:

  • 50 Mpx main sensor (Sony LYT-900, 1 inch, OIS, variable aperture f / 1.6 to f / 4.0).
  • 50 Mpx ultra wide-angle (Samsung JN5).
  • 50 Mpx telephoto lens (Sony IMX858, x3 optical zoom, OIS).
  • 200 MP periscope telephoto lens (Samsung HP9, x4.3 optical zoom).

On the front, it would add a 32 Mpx camera for selfies and video calls. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra would also offer IP68 certification and would measure 161.3 x 75.3 x 9.48 mm for 229 grams. It is expected with 16 GB of RAM and two storage options (depending on the market): 512 GB and 1 TB. The latter version would be reserved for a handful of markets.

Finally, it will run on Android with the HyperOS 2 overlay. Before a global presentation on March 2 at the MWC, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra should be the subject of an official presentation on February 26 in China.
