Alert at Samsung: an update makes several bars plant

Several Samsung bar models are experiencing a failure. As reported by our colleagues at SamMobile, many users report having recently found themselves with an unusable soundbar.

A completely broken soundbar

On the South Korean brand's support forum, a user explains that "the soundbar is unresponsive and cannot be reset». In fact, his TV no longer recognizes the soundbar and cannot connect to it. Same story on Reddit. On social media, a consumer reported that "the Samsung Q990D soundbar is now completely blocked."

Unplugging and replugging the power cable did not resolve the problem. Several of the brand's models, including high-end soundbars, are affected. This is the case for the Q800D, Q990D, and Q995D models. Faced with the reported malfunctions, some people have contacted Samsung customer service.

Initially, the service offered users to reset the soundbar. Unfortunately, this operation proved impossible to perform. One victim points out that "the soundbar cannot be reset".

As reported by the specialist media, the after-sales service did not have a more precise answer to provide to the affected individuals. The after-sales service indicates that the information was transmitted to the warranty team, and is awaiting further information on the issue.

An update responsible for the bug

According to reports, the soundbars crashed right after installing the latest update pushed by Samsung. After installing firmware version 1020, the TV no longer recognized the soundbar. Something went wrong during the update installation.

According to SamMobile, it is likely that the affected soundbars were "Bricked". In short, they are now as useful as a brick. It is very possible that Samsung will be forced to replace all affected soundbars. Until further information is available, we recommend that you do not install the latest update offered on your audio accessory.
