Hogwarts Legacy failed to satisfy your nostalgia for the Harry Potter games of the PS1 and PC era? You don't need a realistic open world and want to find old Hagrid in need of polygons and facial textures? We have just what you need. This Thursday, March 6, 2025, an independent game with a name as strange as its concept appeared in early access on Steam, and is already starting to get people talking. If the images of Secret Agent Wizard Boy and the International Crime Syndicate seem familiar to you, it's because it's a fully assumed parody of Harry's first video game adventures.
A tribute that is both faithful and crazy
A few seconds of the trailer are enough to rediscover what made the Harry Potter games so charming in the 2000s. The textures of the castle walls, the Flipendo to open hidden doors, the star particles produced by spells... Nothing is left to chance, and you could almost believe you were back at Hogwarts. But you can already forget about Harry, Ron, Hermione and the whole gang. There is no question of recovering the Philosopher's Stone or going to kill the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets: here, players will have to thwart the plans of the evil headmaster Grumblemort. A name that leaves no doubt as to the parodic intent of the title. Yet Secret Agent Wizard Boy goes beyond being a simple video game meme and offers a real sandbox experience to share up to 4 players online.
Harry meets Goat Simulator
On Steam, the description promises a “comedy-heavy sandbox game with no holds barred or limits“. A pitch that is reminiscent of the formula for the origin of the success of Goat Simulator. Players can wander as they please in this chaotic school of magic, where the main objectives are just waiting to be ignored to have fun destroying everything at wand.
SecretAgent Wizard Boyinvites players to explore testing the limits of its physics and warns that multiplayer sessions will certainly not be “very cooperative“. For its entry into early access, the game is listed at a promotional price of 7.80 euros until March 20th. The developer notes indicate that the final version will offer many additional NPCs and areas, but that the early access already offers a good preview of the finished product. This nice nostalgic and wacky surprise arrives just in time for the weekend: all that remains is convince your fellow gamers that this video game nonsense is really worth it.
