Forget PS more in April: the games are not worth it

Bad news for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers: their only free games for the month of April are far from being as remarkable as the previous ones. Extra and Premium members can only hope that their exclusives will raise the bar. After a March marked by Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic Colors and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, the Japanese manufacturer seems to have dipped into the bottom of the drawers. But enough negativity, and let's talk more seriously about the titles that players will be able to add to their library from April 1st.

Having gone rather unnoticed upon its release in 2023, the FPS RoboCop: Rogue City has nevertheless found itself propelled to the top of the bill for the new PS Plus rotation. So yes, this video game adaptation is far from being a dud, but that's not the problem. RoboCop having already been sold off for less than 10 euros on the PlayStation Store, does it really deserve the slot for the big game of the month?

Players can also fall back on the multiplayer horror game The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which struggles to keep up with its main rival: Dead by Daylight. Finally, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory is certainly the only notable addition this month, but it will only satisfy a handful of players who are sensitive to this franchise and JRPGs. This will nevertheless allow you to discover the gameplay of the Digimon Story saga, which will return in 2025 with Digimon Story: Time Changer, announced during the State of Play last February.

How to enjoy these games?

As a reminder, the PlayStation Plus Essential is a subscription service offered by Sony on its consoles giving you access to free downloadable games each month, often three or four in number, and allows you to play online on multiplayer games. The basic subscription is available for 8.99 euros per month, €24.99 per quarter or €71.99 per year.

The Extra (400 PS4/PS5 games) or Premium (700 PS/PS2/PS3/PS4/PS5 games, PC streaming, free trials) plans are priced at €13.99 per month / €39.99 per quarter / €125.99 per year for the Extra plan or €16.99 per month / €49.99 per quarter / €151.99 per year for the Premium plan. If you still don't know which one to choose, refer toour complete guide.
