Insomniac Games (Spider Man, Ratchet & Clank) interested in cinema adaptations

Insomniac Games (Spider Man, Ratchet & Clank) interested in cinema adaptations

A few hours ago, we learned of the retirement of the iconic Ted Price, CEO and founder of the Insomniac Games studio. It is in the context of this departure that Ryan Schneider, Chad Dezern and Jen Huang, the new leaders spoke with Variety. In addition to making us understand that we would have to be very patient to discover Marvel's Wolverine, the three men confirmed to us that they would be interested in adapting their games into series or films at the cinema.

Insomniac Games at the cinema?

Insomniac Games at the cinema, it would not be a big first. In 2016, Ratchet & Clank was entitled to its adaptation. Unfortunately, the latter received negative reviews and was a commercial failure. But that was before, and above all, before the creation of PlayStation Productions (in May 2019), which is a studio specializing in adaptations of games into films and series. It was even before being bought by Sony (also in 2019).

Thus, despite Despite this failure, the studio is not afraid of repeating the experience, once again with Ratchet & Clank, as Ryan Scheinder confirms:

Since 2019, Sony has favored adaptations of games into films or series, especially when new games are released. This was the case with the release of the Uncharted film (at the time of the release of Uncharted The Legacy of Thieves Collection on PS5). Then, the release of the The Last Of Us series on HBO, where Season 01 arrived at the same time as The Last Of Us Part I on PC and Season 02, scheduled for April, will be released at the same time as The Last Of Us Part II Remastered on PC.

So, after Marvel’s Wolverine, there is a very good chance that a new Ratchet & Clank game could see the light of day. The perfect time to release a movie at the same time?
