Since its creation in 1996, Pokémon has captivated millions of fans around the world, becoming an iconic franchise in popular culture. LEGO, founded in 1932, is known for its iconic bricks for children and adults alike. The two giants have just announced a collaboration to offer fans sets featuring their favorite characters.
Julia Goldin, Head of Product and Marketing at the LEGO Group, expressed her enthusiasm: "We are delighted to be working with a brand like Pokémon, which has such a loyal and enthusiastic fan base. This collaboration allows us to meet the expectations of our respective audiences.»
Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International, added: “The LEGO Group and Pokémon share strong values such as imagination, creativity and entertainment, making this an ideal partnership to offer Trainers a new way to discover the world of Pokémon.»
While The Pokémon license was previously owned by MEGA, which is owned by Mattel, this partnership marks an important step for LEGO, which has been releasing strong licenses for several years with varying degrees of success (Star Wars, Nintendo, Sonic, Harry Potter, Transformer, Paramount, etc.).
Fans can expect gaming experiences that will allow them to build and interact with their favorite Pokémon, but they will have to be patient because the first LEGO Pokémon sets will only be available in 2026!
