Apple could well attempt a breakthrough in the smart home market with locks and the HomePod with a screen this year. In the meantime, the American company can only note the lead that established players like Netatmo, Yale, and Nuki have over it.
The Austrian company unveiled its new smart lock called Smart Lock Ultra in the fall of 2024. Nuki has just added two products to complete its range: the Smart Lock Pro and the Smart Lock Go. More than interesting alternatives for smaller budgets.

Nuki describes its Smart Lock Ultra connected lock as the fastest, smallest, and most efficient ever designed. However, replacing the cylinder is mandatory with the Ultra model. The Austrian company had to satisfy less fortunate consumers who cannot change their cylinder with modern products. Why the Smart Lock Pro and Smart Lock Go are coming to the market.
The main difference between the Ultra and the Smart Lock Pro is the 12 millimeters of additional length. "To use our latest Smart Lock technology without replacing the cylinder, you only need to put up with an additional length the size of a penny," explains Jürgen Pansy, co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer at Nuki.
The Smart Lock Pro performs just as well as the Ultra thanks to its new-generation brushless motor. The design of the two products is the same, except for the 12 millimeters that separate them. The Smart Lock Pro costs 269 euros, much less than the Ultra, which costs 349 euros.
Want an even more affordable smart lock? Nuki has you covered with the Smart Locks Go. It automates key management. On the other hand, you'll have to do without the stainless steel finish. "It communicates via Bluetooth, integrated Wi-Fi, or Matter via Thread," Nuki states on its official website.
