PlayStation would work on an AIA AI (horizon) capable of responding to players

According to the serious media outlet The Verge, PlayStation has reportedly used AI to create an AI-powered character prototype, featuring the features and physique of Aloy, the heroine of the Horizon franchise (Zero Down, Forbidden West, Call of the Mountains). Sony's idea would be to create a technical demo, but also to integrate it directly into the game Horizon Forbidden West.

Aloy, Sony and PlayStation's AI?

PlayStation would work on an AIA AI (horizon) capable of responding to players

According to The Verge, an anonymous source confirmed to them earlier this week that PlayStation was conducting numerous tests related to AI. The goal would be to initially conduct a technical demo, before considering integrating this AI into games. Sony's first idea would be a representation of Aloy, the heroine of the Horizon license, which is thus designed in partnership with Guerrilla Games, the game's developers.

Sony would like to offer a technical demo and integrate this Aloy AI into the game Horizon Forbidden West if successful. The project would use OpenAI's "Whisper" service for text conversations. For conversations and decision-making, GPT-4 and Llama3 services would be used. Aloy's facial animations are managed by Mockingbird technology, which belongs to Sony.

A first video preview would be available internally (of course, not yet accessible to the general public) with initial tests carried out on PC. The anonymous source specifies that Sony is also testing the concept on PS5. Of course, for the moment, this remains only a concept and it will probably not have great importance for the future. On the other hand, there is a good chance that in the future, PlayStation could adapt this for other characters from its licenses and therefore for future games. It remains to be seen know what place this will occupy in the development and final versions of PlayStation games.
