PS5: The limits of the console were affected by the Asobi and Astro Bot team

PS5: The limits of the console were affected by the Asobi and Astro Bot team

Available since September 2024, Astro Bot is clearly one of the PS5's greatest gems. The game has also won, rightly so, the GOTY (Game of the Year) of last year at the Games Awards, but also at the New York Games Awards 2025, forcing the respect of Reggie Fils-Aimé, the former CEO of Nintendo.

During a recent interview with the Japanese magazine Famitsu, the teams of Team Asobi confirmed have reached the limits of the PS5 for the development of their game Astro Bot.

Have the limits of the PS5 finally been reached?

One thing is certain, Astro Bot is a technical gem. The game is very solid with a stable frame rate even in the most intense and dynamic levels with a multitude of objects and details on the screen. The game is beautiful, fluid, technical, original and offers a very deep level design, on a PS5 that does not flinch.

To achieve this feat, Team Asobi had to push the console to its limits and exploit the processing power of the PS5 to the maximum, as Takumi Yoshida, senior programmer at Team Asobi, indicates:

Team Asobi is therefore one of the first studios to have pushed back the limits of the PS5, as the console prepares to celebrate its 5th anniversary at the end of the year. This means that more and more studios will start to exploit the machine's potential to the fullest.

But also, that the next generation will start to show its nose. Hence the fact that Sony began to approach it very slowly at the end of last year and that the PS6 seems to be in development with a partnership already concluded on the AMD side?
