Silent Hill F: The first news on the new major opus of the saga

As expected, Konami has lifted the veil on the next new installment in the Silent Hill saga. After the release of the remake of Silent Hill 2 last October, which was a very nice surprise, Konami will finally offer us something new with Silent Hill f, which will officially be the new major game in the saga, more than 13 years after the release of the last game.

After a remarkable debut on PS1 and PS2 in In the late 90s and early 2000s, the Silent Hill license suffered a disastrous aftermath and gradually became lost until it disappeared completely in 2012 with the last game: Silent Hill Downpour. Despite some hope brought by Hideo Kojima with Silent Hills P.T., the game was ultimately canceled.

With Silent Hill f, Konami wanted to relaunch its license after more than 13 years of rest. Discover the first information now, with a lot of changes on the agenda.

Silent Hill f: welcome to 1960s Japan

Forget the town of Silent Hill, and head to Japan in the mid-1960s to discover the new major and unprecedented opus of the legendary video game saga. The game will immerse us in the heart of the small village of Ebisugaoka, a rural village in Japan. Although we are not in Silent Hill, this small village takes up all the codes with a threatening mist and a place that does not breathe tranquility.

In this new game, we will play Hinako Shimizu, a high school student who will suddenly find herself lost in the mist of Ebisugaoka. As in all the games of the license, she will face her worst nightmares with strange disjointed and threatening creatures.

For the moment, we do not have more information on Silent Hill f, apart from this trailer, these few information and the fact that the title will be written by Ryukishi07, who distinguished himself through his work on several graphic novels such as Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umineko no Naku Koro ni.

In terms of music, we will find composer Akira Yamaoka, who also distinguished himself on the soundtrack of the first Silent Hill games.

On the development side, Silent Hill f has been in production for several years (the game was already announced more than two years ago). It is a collaboration between Konami and the Motoi Okamoto studio, headed by a former Nintendo member.

With Silent Hill f, the idea is to return to the origins of the saga. The title should be inspired by the first games and in particular by Silent Hill 2 with a psychological horror orientation that risks giving us a few cold sweats, as confirmed by the official statement from the Japanese publisher on the game's website:

Remember that in addition to this game, Konami is preparing another title, Silent Hill Townfall, developed by No Code and Annapurna Interactive. Following the success of Silent Hill 2 Remake, Konami and Bloober Team have renewed their partnership, suggesting that a new, unreleased Silent Hill game could, once again, be in development.
