A few weeks after the release of Split Fiction, the new game from Josef Fares and the Hazelight studio, we learned that the title which has achieved immense critical and commercial success will (already) have the right to its adaptation. On the other hand, it's best not to get too carried away.
Split Fiction and It Takes Two in film
Before making incredible games, Josef Fares started in cinema, in Sweden, directing several films that met a nice national success. From the end of the 2000s, he will turn to gaming by producing his first game: Brothers A Tale of Two Sons.
Subsequently, Fares will create his own studio with Hazelight and the successes will follow one another, becoming more and more important with A Way Out, It Takes Two, then Split Fiction.
The last two games have really achieved impressive scores. It Takes Two has exceeded the 20 million games sold mark since its release in 2021. And for Split Fiction it has already made a much bigger start than that of It Takes Two.
During the Game Developers Conference (GDC 2025) which took place a few days ago, the Variety website obtained a nice exclusive confirming that a Split Fiction film was already in the works on the company's side production company Story Kitchen (which is already handling the adaptation of It Takes Two).
For the moment, neither Hazelight nor Story Kitchen have wanted to comment and confirm or deny this information.
On the other hand, the film It Takes Two has been in the works for several years and we still don't have the slightest information. And according to the latest feedback from Josef Fares, the various project meetings weren't very productive and the project isn't making much progress. The director confirmed that for his part he didn't really have time to take care of it.
It must be said that Hazelight has no time to lose since a few days after the release of Split Fiction, the studio is already working on its next game.
