When will Nintendo announce the Switch2? Remember, in the first half of 2024, the Japanese firm confirmed that its next console, the one that would succeed the Switch, would indeed be presented during this fiscal year. Thus, according to Big N's plans, the new Switch was to be unveiled before March 31, 2025.
Several months later, while we are already more than halfway through this fiscal year, we still have no news of this next console. Apparently, everything is normal and Nintendo does not plan any delays.
The Switch 2 will be presented before April 2025
As the end of the year approaches big steps, Nintendo fans are starting to worry about the Japanese firm's plans. Since the official announcement of the new console in May 2024, we have no news of it. It was during their last quarterly report with investors that Nintendo (finally) spoke on the subject.
It was Nintendo's president himself, Shuntaro Furukawa, who spoke to confirm that the plans have not changed and that the presentation of the new console is still planned for this fiscal year, that is, before March 31, 2025. Nintendo's president explains that an announcement at the end of the year is increasingly difficult to imagine so as not to divert attention to a new console in the middle of a crucial period for sales.
Indeed, the period of November and December is very important as the end-of-year holidays and Black Friday approach. Announcing a new console at this time would not be a good strategic choice. Shuntaro Furukawa clarifies that the plans have not been delayed and that the new Switch will be presented on time.
As a reminder, in 2016, Nintendo unveiled the Switch on October 20. A first detailed presentation took place in January 2017, to finally release its console in March 2017. At that time, the company was not as well placed in terms of sales with a non-existent Wii U. There is therefore a good chance that Big N will wait patiently until the beginning of 2025 to launch hostilities on its new machine.
