After four years of waiting (soon to be five), PC gamers will finally be able to discover The Last Of Us Part II. At The Game Awards 2024, Naughty Dog confirmed the information and revealed the game's release date, set for April 3rd. Shortly before the release of the PS5 controller on April 10th, and the launch of season 2 on HBO Max on April 14th.
Today, Naughty Dog reveals all the information surrounding this PC version, along with new content coming to this new version and to PS5 via a free update.
Exclusive improvements on PC
As always, the PC version of a PS5 game will be the ultimate version offering the maximum number of features and very advanced technical and graphical possibilities (if you have the right machine). So, for The Last Of Us Part II Remastered, here are the different specifications to expect:
- Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution and Frame Rate Support
- AMD FSR 3.1 and AMD FSR 4 support with upscaling and frame rate support
- VSync and frame rate limiting options, including an uncapped frame rate option
- DirectStorage support and much more.
To take advantage of all this, however, you'll need a solid PC, as the system requirements are quite high.
The PC version of The Last Of Us Part II Remastered will also benefit from new and exclusive features including:
- Adjustable texture quality
- LOD range
- Quality Volumetric
- Shadow Quality
- Ambient Occlusion
- Reflections Quality
- and more!
Of course, this PC version will support Ultrawide monitors, so players can enjoy the stunning views of Jackson and the challenging streets of Seattle with gameplay supported in 21:9 ultrawide, 32:9 super ultrawide, and even 48:9 resolutions with compatibility for triple monitor setups.
The game will also support keyboard and mouse gameplay. This includes a host of new customization options, such as complete control reassignment, keyboard and mouse shortcuts, an adaptive mode allowing players to combine keyboard and controller controls, and much more.
Of course, for players who prefer to play this type of game with a controller, this will be fully possible since full controller support will be on the program with, in addition to this, full compatibility with the DualSense PS5 offering haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
New features on PS5 and PC
All the content of the PS5 version will be available on PC. Whether it's the guitar mini-game, the lost levels, or even the rogue-like mode "No Return". In addition, new features will be added starting April 3, on PC and via a free update on PS5.
Two new characters will be arriving with Bill and Marlene from the first The Last Of Us. You'll also get four new maps, including:
- Overlook, located high above Seattle and offering a lot of verticality.
- The School, which represents the abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina face the WLF.
- Streets is located in the overgrown Hillcrest neighborhood of Seattle.
- Nest, a level that will be familiar to players who played as Abby in a building infested with Infected.
These new features will arrive on April 3rd on PS5 with new trophies, a patch fixing some bugs and more.
PSN account bonus on PC
PC players who have a PSN account and log in to play will be able to unlock a unique skin, featuring the jacket of Jordan A Mun, the heroine of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the next game from Naughty Dog. PC players will also earn 50 in-game points to activate bonus features. Sony reminds us that signing in with a PSN account is now optional.
For PS5 players, this skin will be available starting April 3 with the new update.
