Here it is, the announcement that Dragon Quest fans have been eagerly awaiting. While Dragon Quest 3 received a nice update just two days ago, we were wondering if the Dragon Quest 1 & 2 Remake would take advantage of the Summer Game Fest to specify its release date, scheduled for this year. It finally appears that we won't have to wait until then to find out since without warning, Square Enix and Artdink Corporation have finally released the information, with other little surprises to be announced.
Dragon Quest 1 & 2 Remake reveals its release date
It is therefore on October 30, 2025 that Dragon Quest 1 & 2 will be released, completing the Elric trilogy after the release of the remake of the third opus at the end of 2024. Because yes, for those who still don't know, the latter actually serves as a prequel to the first two episodes, which explains the publisher's choice of a release in that order. Another good news, in addition to the platforms announced so far, Square Enix has confirmed that the game will also be released on Nintendo Switch 2. However, and this may disappoint, you will then have to make do with a Game-Key Card.
Now available for pre-order, Dragon Quest 1 & 2 offers two different editions: the Standard, priced from €59.99 to €69.99 depending on the platform, and the Collector's, whose price is still unknown at the time of writing. In addition to the game, the latter comes with the following bonuses:
- The complete set of acrylic plaques Characters and monsters
- The complete outfit pack (in-game items): shock ring x1, pair of slime earrings x1, pointy hat x1, bling vest x1
- Exclusive digital wallpapers x2
Naturally, pre-order bonuses are also offered to all those who opt for the digital version of the game. This is a travel pack including the following in-game items: pair of heels x1, Strength seeds x3, Vitality seeds x3, Agility seeds x3, Life seeds x3 and Magic seeds x3. All owners of Dragon Quest 3 Remake will also receive the Legendary Makeover Pack as a bonus, which contains a dog costume for Dragon Quest 1, and a cat costume for Dragon Quest 2.
An enhanced version
So, see you at the end of October to (re)discover the sequel to the Elric trilogy in a new, updated version. As a reminder, beyond its stunning HD-2D graphic style, Dragon Quest 1 & 2 Remake will also offer new stories to discover, accompanied by multiple additional areas and improvements.
