The new Xbox controller will appeal to fans of retro objects

Microsoft knows how to delight its fans. Each new controller arrival is an opportunity for players to expand their collection with objects that are as beautiful as they are functional. Today, the firm is showing us a somewhat special controller, the third in the Cipher range. After the Ghost (white) and Sky (blue) shades, here is the Pulse Cipher controller.

The goal is to get as close as possible to the color of the blood that feeds your heart, with a liveliness rarely seen among manufacturers. Its originality lies in the fact that the entire exterior shell is transparent, allowing a glimpse of the internal workings and components of the device. This is a design that has been exploited several times by Microsoft, notably on the Forza Horizon 5 collector's controller, but which is increasingly popular with gamers.

Translucent is back in fashion

Retro-tech inspiration is not very complicated to find. The transparent shell obviously reminds us of the iMac G3. Released in the late 1990s, Apple's computer marked its time with its colored translucent plastic back. Since fashion is all about cycles, it is a design that has been making a comeback in recent years, with smartphone cases and Xbox controllers, to name just a few accessories.

In addition to its front shell, the Pulse Cipher controller stands out from other classic models by the presence of textured red rubber grips and a directional cross with a metallic effect. The back of the controller sports a nice dark red color, and the same goes for the buttons above the triggers.

In terms of performance, the controller includes all the usual features of Xbox Series controllers, such as the share function, connection to mobile devices or even around forty hours of battery life. Still wireless, it promises you long gaming sessions without any problems (but it won't do anything for your skill).

Price and availability

For the moment, Xbox has not revealed the release date of the Pulse Cipher. However, it is already available for pre-order on the Xbox website and at some partner retailers. It displays a price of 74.99 euros, a rather standard price for a controller of the current generation with a worked design.
