Giving money to your child without fearing loss or excess has never been easy. Between lost tickets, borrowed bank cards, and unexpected purchases, parents often lack visibility over their children's spending. With Google Wallet for Kids, available on the Pixel 9a, they can finally maintain full control over their payments, while giving them more autonomy.

Thanks to Family Link, parents can now add Google Wallet to their children's phone and supervise their use. In concrete terms, they will be able to pay in stores via Google Pay, store gift cards, movie tickets, or even their library card. To ensure supervised use, several restrictions are in place so that adults maintain control.

Unlike adults, children cannot make online purchases with their Google Wallet. Each card added must first be approved by parents. Once activated, each purchase triggers a notification sent to the family manager, who can view the payment history at any time. In case of a problem, a parent can remotely remove the card from Wallet or disable access to passes.

For example, if a teenager spends too much at fast food restaurants, a parent can limit their access to certain cards or monitor their transactions in real time.

With this new feature, the Pixel 9a becomes an even more attractive smartphone for parents. They can let their children pay independently, while keeping an eye on their transactions. Already available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Spain and Poland, Google Wallet for kids should gradually be rolled out elsewhere. For now, Google has not confirmed a date for France, but the arrival of this option in other countries gives hope for a future launch. In addition, the company has specified that this function will be extended to other Android phones in the future, without specifying an exact timetable.
