Nvidia has lowered the price of its Nvidia RTX 50 graphics cards in France, and more generally in Europe. A gesture that has nothing to do with generosity and leaves other problems unresolved.

The price of NVIDIA RTX 50 graphics cards decreases in France, but there is one but

Without fanfare, Nvidia has done something rather unexpected: lower the prices of its latest graphics cards, the RTX 50 series. The reduction is effective in Europe, including France. It's visible directly on the manufacturer's website and concerns almost all models already released.

Did the company want to make a gesture towards gamers? No way. It simply followed the evolution of the exchange rate between the euro and the dollar. Faced with the current geopolitical situation, the European currency has gained in power and prices have had to be readjusted accordingly. However, this remains a good thing in itself, except that the reality is more complicated than that. And as is often the case in this kind of case, it is the end customers who pay the price, literally.

Nvidia lowers the price of the RTX 50 in Europe, but don't rejoice too quickly

Let's first look at the new prices displayed for Nvidia's RTX 50 series graphics cards:

  • The GeForce RTX 5070 drops to 619 euros, a drop of 30 euros.
  • The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is the only one whose price remains the same, at 879 euros.
  • The GeForce RTX 5080 drops to 1,119 euros, a drop of 50 euros.
  • The GeForce RTX 5090 drops to 2,229, a drop of 100 euros.

Even if all the reductions are good to take, we note that these are not exceptional. The RTX 50s remain expensive, and above all: these new prices are not yet reflected by resellers.

Since stocks are still not large enough to meet demand, they generally have no interest in applying Nvidia's discount. On the contrary: some don't hesitate to inflate prices knowing that the components will find buyers no matter what. So here we have the perfect example of good news that isn't really good news. Too bad.
