These 2025: Microsoft announces the arrival of the Xbox Game Pass application on LG TV

Microsoft is preparing to bring Xbox into a new era, although this is not really to the taste of all gamers and fans, especially those from the beginning. With the This is an Xbox initiative, Microsoft intends to gradually abandon video game consoles to allow gamers to play Xbox from anywhere, and on all media. This began with the arrival of Cloud Gaming and Game Pass on mobiles and in particular on Samsung televisions.

The Xbox Game Pass thus became an application similar to Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime. The player only has to download the application on their connected TV, then connect an Xbox controller via Bluetooth. Once this is done, the player can access the entire Xbox Game Pass catalog, without even owning Xbox consoles.

We just learned during the LG conference at CES 2025 that LG TVs will soon be compatible. Allowing even more players to discover the Xbox ecosystem, without investing in a console.

Soon, gamers with LG Smart TVs will be able to install and use the Xbox app to directly access hundreds of games in the Game Pass Ultimate catalog, including popular titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and upcoming titles like Avowed (launching February 18, 2025).

The Xbox app on LG Smart TVs will offer even more ways to play on Xbox:

• Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to play directly their favorite games from the Xbox app on compatible LG Smart TVs, thanks to cloud gaming.
• With an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership and a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller, players will be able to access games through the Xbox app (available in LG’s Gaming Portal) with cloud gaming. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will also be able to play select games they own outside of the Game Pass catalog, such as NBA 2K25, Hogwarts Legacy, and more.

No launch date yet, but the feature is expected to roll out sometime in 2025. More than ever, Microsoft is moving away from its fundamentals and adopting a new strategy. However, the Redmond firm does not intend to abandon consoles anytime soon. According to recent rumors, the new generation of Xbox could arrive as early as next year.
