This man tries to burn Tesla chargers ... and ends up burning himself

Tensions surrounding Tesla are reaching a new peak. After calls for boycotts and protests, some opponents are taking action. But for this man, revenge against Elon Musk turned into a fiasco: while trying to set fire to Tesla chargers, he accidentally set himself on fire. He is now wanted by the police... and probably by a good dermatologist.

This man tries to burn Tesla chargers ... and ends up burning himself

Tesla continues to be at the heart of controversies. Between declining sales, boycott campaigns, and political attacks, Elon Musk's brand is going through a turbulent period. In recent weeks, we've seen some owners cover up their car logos, others vandalize dealerships, and even Donald Trump promise to classify attacks against the company as domestic terrorism.

But some are going even further. A man recently attempted to sabotage a Tesla charging station in South Carolina, USA. His goal: burning several Superchargers with Molotov cocktails. His plan seemed well-crafted... until he set fire to his own back. A witness told police he saw the suspect light his homemade projectiles filled with a flammable liquid, before starting to throw them. That's when his clothes caught fire, forcing him to run away.

The incident took place last Friday in North Charleston, near a shopping center. Before attacking the charging stations, the suspect took the time to spray-paint “Long live Ukraine” on the ground, as well as an insult to Donald Trump. Armed with beer bottles transformed into Molotov cocktails, he then ignited his projectiles and threw them at three charging stations. But in the excitement of the moment, he didn't notice that his own clothes were catching fire. Firefighters quickly intervened to extinguish the fire and cut off power to the chargers, thus preventing further damage. Meanwhile, the suspect, despite his accident, managed to escape. North Charleston police have handed over the investigation to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which is analyzing the debris from the incendiary bottles left at the scene. For now, this man remains untraceable… which suggests that his burns are not preventing him from running.
