Streamer David Martìnose, aka TheGrefg, broke the record for the most watched live performance on Twitch with over 2.4 million viewers. The feat took place on Monday, January 11 in the evening. The viewers of the live stream had all come to discover the new Fortnite skin in his image. The record was confirmed by the Twitch Twitter account shortly after the end of the live stream. With this simple announcement, TheGrefg not only broke the previous record, but he did so by a considerable margin, since the previous record was 635,000 viewers, while he gathered almost four times that number of people. The old record was held by another Fortnite streamer, Ninja, who had played in the Battle Royale game with rapper Drake in 2018.

This feat is very important because it cements the rise of a Spanish-language livestream channel in a field that is dominated mainly by English-language channels. So it's a good thing for TheGrefg, especially since this record is not going to be easy to beat. TheGrefg's skin completes the Icon Series that Fortnite launched a year ago. After the Major Lazer, Marshmello, and Travis Scott skins, it's The Grefg's turn to have a skin that looks like him in order to realize his passion for Fortnite. He is also the fifth streamer to have had this honor, after Ninja, Loserfruit, Lachlan, and Pokimane. The skin can be won during the TheGrefg tournament which will be held on January 14 and 15, and it will also be available in stores from January 17. It will be accompanied by of a new emote and a pickaxe.
