Xbox is taking advantage of the New Year to set the tone for the coming months. The Redmond firm has just made its first conference of the year official and is not doing things by halves. Get out your calendars: the return of Developer_Direct will take place on Thursday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. (French time). The presentation will be broadcast live via the Twitch and YouTube channels of Xbox France, and will give the floor to the studios to present their new productions. A few days after rumors about a certain “Xbox Prime” console appeared, the manufacturer insists that only games will be in the spotlight during the live: no hardware in sight.
But this Developer_Direct is no less promising. As usual, Xbox has already taken care to reveal some of the titles that will be there. And what better way than to guarantee the presence of three highly anticipated productions to pique the curiosity of players. Action, adventure, shooting and role-playing will be the watchwords of the conference that will be broadcast in just two weeks… Not to mention a few surprises.
Three video game blockbusters of 2025
After a brief appearance at NVIDIA's CES 2025 conference, DOOM: The Dark Ages will be one of the stars of Developer_Direct. According to the latest news, this prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal is still scheduled for sometime in 2025, without further details. Is this presence at the first conference of the year a sign of an imminent launch? Answer in a few days.
One of the nice surprises from last June's showcase will also be there. South of Midnight, the new action-adventure game from the studio of We Happy Few, will have its own presentation segment to delve deeper into its mysterious universe. Let's hope that the mix of fantasy and folklore from the American South succeeds in... hit the mark.
Cocorico, France will also experience its moment of glory with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The ambitious RPG from the young studio Sandfall Interactive will also give news ahead of a release that should be organized in the coming months.
At least one new game on the program
To top it all off, Xbox did not hesitate to play the teaser card. The manufacturer also promises “a surprise stopover in another studio to discover a brand new game“. The conference should therefore reserve at least one big surprise. Who says all the reveals have to happen in the summer and at The Game Awards? The summary of the most significant announcements will be available on Journal du Geek following the conference. Will we finally have news of Hollow Knight Silksong?
