Xiaomi has found a new way to compete with Samsung

Xiaomi came to Barcelona with its arms full of new products for the Mobile World Congress 2025. The Chinese giant announced new smartphones, tablets, connected objects and even electric scooters. Xiaomi is a real jack-of-all-trades and there is still one area in which we know less about the Chinese group: household appliances. This could change very soon since the brand will expand its range of household appliances internationally.

Until now focused on the Chinese market, the group is still looking to diversify its offer worldwide. It will soon offer refrigerators, washing machines, dryers and air conditioners "on international markets". At MWC 2025, Xiaomi even showed a promising compact espresso machine. It is only 13.7 cm wide and weighs 3.5 kg, which allows it to find a place in many kitchens. This format does not allow it to integrate a grinder and the machine is satisfied with a small water tank. A touch screen displays two coffee recipes: espresso and long coffee.

For now, the manufacturer has not announced any price and has not specified when this machine will be available. However, it confirms that the manufacturer is ready to invest in the coffee sector.

At MWC 2025, we were also able to get close to the Mija Dual Drum Washer Dryer. This Xiaomi washing machine concept, the Mija Dual Drum Washer Dryer, has a double drum: a main drum (up to 10 kg of laundry in washing) and a mini-drum with a capacity of 0.25 kg in washing. This mini drum can quickly wash underwear, tea towels, baby clothes.

Xiaomi will compete with Samsung or LG

This initiative puts Xiaomi in direct competition with giants like Samsung and LG, thanks in particular to its strategy of offering affordable products with innovative technologies. The company hopes to replicate its success in the smartphone and connected device market by offering a full range of home appliances that integrate into its ecosystem. Let us recall that the arrival of HyperOS is part of this logic, namely offering a system capable of covering more than 200 product categories.

Xiaomi has found a new way to compete with Samsung

Xiaomi's arrival on the global home appliance market promises to offer more choice to consumers and stimulate competition, potentially leading to lower prices and accelerated innovation. The company aims to become a major player in this sector. In France, a Smart Home and Life Style section already includes products such as televisions, vacuum cleaners, fans and humidifiers. There are also kettles, hot air fryers and food processors.

All these products fit perfectly into the Chinese manufacturer's ecosystem. They could help it, in the long term, compete with companies like Samsung or LG on a global scale. Xiaomi has not specified which countries will be the first to be affected, but a deployment in Europe and Southeast Asia is expected.
