You see blurry on YouTube? You are not alone

When YouTube doesn't abandon certain Android phones, the platform encounters quality issues on videos that start at 144p or 360p, even with a fast internet connection. At least, that's what many users are complaining about. The problem seems to mainly affect iOS, smart TV, and desktop users. On Android, the app seems to function normally. YouTube has confirmed that it is aware of the problem and is working on a solution.

YouTube suffers a bug that affects the quality video

Many users have reported on Reddit and other platforms a sudden degradation in streaming quality on YouTube. Videos automatically display in 144p or 360p, making the experience quite poor or even unusable.

The issue is particularly frustrating for users who try to change the resolution manually, without success. Some people report that even when selecting 720p or 1080p, videos remain in low definition or experience constant buffering. The problem mainly affects iOS, smart TV, and web users, but the Android app seems to be unaffected.

On Reddit, one user shared their experience: "As soon as I open a video or a Short, it displays in 144p. I can change the quality, but this behavior is quite strange, I've never seen this before." Other users confirm this anomaly, citing a bug that makes YouTube practically unusable.

A fix in the pipeline

Faced with the rise in complaints, YouTube has officially acknowledged the problem on its support page. The platform indicates that it is actively seeking a solution and promises to get back to users as soon as a fix is available. In a statement posted on its forum, YouTube stated:

Pending a fix, affected users can visit the official YouTube support page to track progress. Are you affected? by this problem?
