A donut giant arrives in France two years after Krispy Kreme

When we say that the United States has a great international influence, we're talking about politics, but also about our consumer habits. It's been two years since Krispy Kreme, the American donut brand, arrived in France, and since then, it has established itself throughout our territory. It's the turn of another essential brand to join it in May.

Indeed, Dunkin' Donuts announces its imminent arrival in France, with its very first store in the Île-de-France region. The store will open on May 14, and will be the first brick in the building of the company's next empire. It will be located in Paris, on Boulevard Montmartre. The store will not go unnoticed, since it will be the "flagship" (reference boutique, generally the brand's largest). It will occupy approximately 200 square meters.

The menu will feature donuts with classic flavors (sugar icing, strawberry icing, vanilla cream filling), but also much more original variations, such as the Kit Kat, the Speculoos or the Rocky Road, a combination of hazelnut filling, chocolate icing, mini marshmallows and melting caramel cubes.

From hole donuts to shovelfuls

From the sweetest to the slightly less sweet, there will be something for everyone. From what we can see before tasting, their shapes and flavors resemble those of Krispy Kreme. However, it must be remembered that this is the American stock. We do not know if everything will be reproduced in our French stores because of European standards related to food, the origin of ingredients and the dietary health of consumers. But it is also possible that some recipes will be developed specifically for our culinary preferences.

Over time, Dunkin' Donuts will expand its influence by building several stores across the Paris region, but also by invading the whole of France by 2026. Just like Starbucks, the brand will not only offer pastries, but also hot drinks and sandwiches in the hope of becoming "the French people's favorite coffee shop." An ambition confirmed by Jean-Wilfrid Thibault, the head of Dunkin' France. He even declares: "Once the brand is established, we do not rule out partnering with others." Could we see Dunkin' donuts on our McDonald's menus, for example? This remains a long-term possibility.
