Long awaited to replace the not-so-well-born and aging iPhone SE 3, the iPhone 16th brought a breath of fresh air to Apple's smartphone lineup last March. While at €719, this model is far from being as good a price as the SE lineup, the cocktail of old and new developed by the Apple company has apparently found a buyer.
Already a replacement in the works
It is indeed thanks to The iPhone 16th, which Apple returned to the top of the smartphone manufacturer rankings in the first quarter, at the expense of Samsung, which had not been doing badly at the start of the year. And unlike the SE range, which has a more or less random renewal rate (a new model every two years or so), Apple is said to have something much faster in mind.
You have to strike while the iron is hot. According to the leaker(s) behind the Fixed Focus Digital account on Weibo, development of the iPhone 17th has already begun: it is even at the test production stage. The count is moving forward with a launch window — it would be May 2026.
It's understood: barely two months after the launch of the iPhone 16th, already mentioning the release date of its successor may seem a bit hasty. But production volumes and constraints are such that if Apple really wants to launch a new model quickly, it needs to start now. Fixed Focus Digital was the first to mention the smartphone's new name ("iPhone 16e") last December, when everyone was still calling it the 4th generation iPhone SE. So it clearly has some connections, although this indiscretion should be taken with the usual grain of salt.
