Initially paid, the 27 million Boulanger customer data hacked at the end of 2024 are now offered free of charge on the “Amazon of cybercrime”. Don't wait to secure your account.
Things are happening on the Dark Web. You wouldn't think so, especially if you haven't set foot there, but a lot is happening on this part of the Internet, which is home to many illegal sites. Many allow you to buy something illegal, whether it's a physical product or not. The information recovered by hackers during their cyberattacks is found there, for example. A price is set and the file ends up in the hands of the buyer, who can then do whatever they want with it.
This is the case for the one containing 27 million data relating to Boulanger customers, stolen in September 2024. Don't think it's worth a fortune. The initial request was €2,000. A sum, certainly, but not necessarily as high as one might imagine. Unable to find a buyer, the seller gradually lowered the price until until it reached 300 euros a few weeks ago. Now it's free.
27 million hacked Boulanger data are accessible for 0 euros on the Dark Web, be careful
Did the hacker want to do someone a favor? No, since he wasn't the one who posted the file on the "Amazon of cybercrime" for 0 euros. Another cybercriminal got hold of it and took it upon himself to offer it free of charge. This practice is common when there is a dispute between two or more hackers. In any case, it is the users whose information has been hacked who pay the price.

Remember that the file contains, among other things, the names, first names, telephone numbers, email addresses, and postal addresses of customers. More than ever, it is very important that you change the password for your Boulanger account. If you haven't already, it's also high time to switch to a password manager that will allow you to use strong, and above all, unique, passwords for all the online sites you're registered on. And of course, beware of suspicious emails and text messages that you may receive in the coming weeks.
