DanDaDan is definitely one of the big surprises of 2024 for fans of Japanese animation. Adapting the eponymous manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, it was a resounding success. After announcing a return for July 2025, Netflix has finally announced the anime's return date. We can't wait!
When will season 2 of DanDaDan be released?
In October 2024, shonen fans will happily discover the anime DanDaDan on Netflix, Crunchyroll, and ADN. Telling the adventures of Okarun - a passionate nerd by UFOs - and Momo - a gyaru whose grandmother is a medium -, the series is the adaptation of the manga phenomenon by Yukinobu Tatsu, a real hit of Shūeisha's Shonen Jump+. Mixing with a certain skill science fiction, horror fantasy and romantic comedy, the basic material is sublimated by the very high-quality animation of the Science SARU studio, which shows the full extent of its potential from the opening, which joined our top 10 best anime openings since 2020.
The 12-episode first season of DanDaDan ends on a cruel cliffhanger. At the beginning of the Kito Family arc, Momo Ayase is the victim of a sexual assault, while Okarun and Jin discover a strange room in the latter's parents' house. Good news, since the wait for season 2 will not be as long as for other current productions (Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man). Scheduled for July 2025, season 2 of DanDaDan will introduce one of the manga's most powerful characters, much to the delight of fans. On Saturday, April 26, Netflix revealed the release date. So you can mark your calendars that season 2 of DanDaDan will be released on July 3, 2025.
It is unknown how many episodes this second season will have, but it is quite possible it will have the same number as the first (twelve). Indeed, everything points to believe that the first two seasons were produced simultaneously - and are in fact a single season divided into two parts. Note that the wait for season 3 could also be extended; the reputation of Science SARU has increased considerably, and the studio is working on several major series at the same time. We are thinking in particular of its Christmas anime planned for the end of the year, or even its adaptation of The Ghost in the Shell by Masamune Shirow, which promises to be closer to the manga than the cult film by Mamoru Oshii.
