Deadpool & Wolverine Coming to Disney+: 5 Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

Deadpool & Wolverine Coming to Disney+: 5 Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

Chris Evans' Return to the MCU

It's perhaps the moment we least saw coming when watching Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters. While they're in the Void and about to fight with some of Wolverine's old acquaintances from his time as an X-Men, the infernal duo is joined by a strange vagabond, who is none other than Chris Evans. And while we expect to see him throw his Captain America shield - force of habit no doubt - it is into the Human Torch that the actor transforms, reconnecting with his first life as a superhero, that of Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four.

Obviously the moment, in addition to being Doubly surprising, is funny, even if due to Deadpool's antics, things are not going to end well for the Human Torch, literally pulverized by Cassandra Nova. This will be confirmed to us... in the post-credits scene of the film.

Gambit and the other forgotten Fox heroes

Another strong moment, unfortunately a little known to everyone at the time of the film's release, is the return of the old Fox superheroes. Those, in particular, who did not have their solo film, who did not have their reboot in the MCU or who we preferred to forget, due to poor quality in cinema, quite simply.

We are talking here, in order, about Gambit and the film project abandoned after several years by Channing Tatum, about Blade and the return of Wesley Snipes in the role of the half-human, half-vampire vigilante and who observes like all of us, the appalling absence of clear communication around the revival of his character, supposed to be played by Mahershala Ali and who has a strong chance of falling by the wayside; and finally Elektra, played as she was at the time by Jennifer Garner, in a solo film that we preferred to bury quickly, well done.

We can and must add to this list Daphnée Keen, the interpreter of X-23, who has the merit, unlike the other members mentioned above, except Wesley Snipes, of belonging to a film (Logan) that made an impression. If Gambit is already announced to return in Avengers: Doomsday, there is no doubt that the character of X-23, very popular with fans, could make her comeback in the Marvel universe in the near future.

Wolverine, his origins, his real size and Henry Cavill

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Wade Wilson, to save his universe, will have to go in search of a variant of Logan, so that it replaces the dead version in his time (that's good, you follow?). The opportunity in images to revisit different versions of the man with adamantium claws and to dive back into his origins in comics. Already, we find a Wolverine at his true size: the character is very small in the comics, he measures 1m60 and not 1m88 as his interpretation by Hugh Jackman suggests.

Then we have the right to his Old Logan version, to his very first appearance in comics, facing Hulk, to a Wolverine crucified on an X-shaped cross, a reference to a famous cover, that of Uncanny X-Men #281, or even a futuristic variant, a nod to the saga Age of Apocalypse. And then, the icing on the cake, the presence of Henry Cavill, who plays a very badass version of Wolverine, enough to give ideas to Marvel Studios (given the good public response to this idea) and to the actor, kindly left out of James Gunn's projects at DC Studios and, according to rumor, very close to joining the MCU in a role that has yet to be determined.

Stan Lee still present

This has long been a habit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Deadpool & Wolverine is no exception. Marvel Comics boss Stan Lee also gets a cameo in the film. A cameo that is necessarily different from those we have been used to for ten years, since the creator of the greatest heroes (and villains) of the House of Ideas used to have a small scene (we haven't forgotten the famous Excelsior in Avengers: Age of Ultron) and to play it above all.

But since then Stan Lee has left us and Marvel uses his imagination to pay homage to him. In Deadpool & Wolverine, the artist's name is written on one of the sides of the bus that the two Marvel heroes cross while facing an army of Pools.

Deadpool and his Hollywood variants

In terms of cameos, in Deadpool & Wolverine we can say that we are served. And another important moment in the film proves it: the fight between Deadpool and Wolverine against the many variants of the former. In this wrestling sequence, the cameos follow one another, and the strength of the sequence is that the actors chosen to play them are all masked.

This is how Ryan Reynolds's partner, Blake Lively, ends up playing Lady Deadpool, Nathan Fillion as Headpool, Ryan Reynolds's brother, Harold, becomes Harold Pool. The actor's daughters (with Blake Lively), Inez and Olin, become Kidpool and Babypool. Cowboy Deadpool is played by Matthew McConaughey. American star and singer Sabrina Carpenter is Deadpool 2099, while British footballer Paul Mullin is Welshpool, a nod to Ryan Reynolds's football club, Wrexham, located in Welsh. And Paul Mullin is one of the players in this club.

To find the rest of the cameos, Easter eggs and references from the film, nothing could be simpler: just watch again Deadpool & Wolverine, available since this Friday on Disney +.
