Double good news for Star Wars Outlaws

Double good news for Star Wars Outlaws

It's the start of Star Wars Celebration in Japan, and the news is coming thick and fast. The movie world isn't the only one affected by the announcements, which also affect the franchise's games. It's in this context that Star Wars Outlaws is giving its news, and it's good. Already available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the title is making double news. : on the one hand with a new narrative expansion, on the other hand with a scheduled release on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.

Fans will soon be able to dive into A Pirate’s Fortune, the second downloadable narrative content. Available free of charge for Season Pass holders or for individual purchase, this pack offers a brand new adventure alongside Hondo Ohnaka, a famous pirate from the expanded universe. He is a character who is already appeared in The Clone Wars and the comic Darth Maul (2017). His inclusion is a nod to fans of the canon universe. Together, Hondo and Kay will face Stinger Tash, leader of the Rokana Raiders, explore a mysterious tomb, and conduct shady business with the Miyuki Trade League. This additional content will be available from May 15th on all platforms.

A late arrival on Switch 2

The announcement also confirmed the delayed release of Star Wars Outlaws on Nintendo Switch 2, expected September 4th, three months after the console's official launch, set for June 5th. The Switch 2, still shrouded in mystery, could mark a technological turning point for Nintendo, with compatibility increased for AAA games, previously reserved for the most powerful platforms.

It should be noted that this delayed release window is not insignificant. It is part of a tense geopolitical context: recent customs tariffs imposed by the Republican administration are complicating the logistics of pre-orders in North America. A situation closely monitored by distributors, who anticipate stock shortages and extended delivery times.

A game up to par?

Many people have yet to play Star Wars Outlaws. It must be said that Ubisoft's reputation and the game's launch with numerous technical flaws did not contribute to its success. The reception was more than mixed among the press, who agreed to give it a score of 7/10, although players were convinced by its immersion.

It should be remembered that the base game, set Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, follows Kay Vess, a reckless smuggler on the run, accompanied by her alien sidekick Nix. In a galaxy consumed by chaos and cartel control, Kay tries to survive by taking on high-risk missions to afford the luxury of a new life.
