Expected on July 23, Fantastic Four: Beginnings is expected to be an important film for the MCU's future. It should indeed be a starting point for the events of Avengers: Doomsday. Directed by Matt Shakman, the feature film takes place in a universe parallel to Earth-616. As a result, Fantastic Four shouldn't feature many cameos. In any case, the characters we already know are expected to be absent from Matt Shakman's film. And besides Galactus and the Silver Surfer, we don't really know who might join the party. Here are 8 Marvel characters who would have every right to appear in Fantastic Four: First Steps
8) Namor
Logically, Namor would have every right to appear in Fantastic Four: First Steps. The Atlantean plays a recurring role in the adventures of the Fantastic Four in the comics. Madly in love with Sue Storm, he regularly kidnaps her or tries to seduce and manipulate her. Very often, the Fantastic Four protect Earth against invasions by Namor and his Atlanteans. But if Namor plays a recurring role in the adventures of the Fantastic Four in the comics, we nevertheless have little chance of seeing him in Matt Shakman's film.
7) Impossible Man
Here too, we don't really believe it. However, Impossible Man is an iconic character in the Fantastic Four universe. Created in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Impossible Man is an insufferable little green alien. Ultra-talkative, eccentric, and unbearable, he's a Looney Tunes homage character whose sole purpose is pure chaos. Not strictly speaking a supervillain, he mostly comes to disrupt Fantastic Four when he's bored. Immortal, invulnerable, and shapeshifting, he could be a supporting character in Fantastic Four: The Beginning. We'd think it's cool, anyway.
6) The Mole Man
Created in 1961, The Mole Man is a recurring enemy in the Fantastic Four universe. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Harvey Elder is an explorer rejected by the scientific community because of his deformed appearance. Convinced of the existence of an underground kingdom, he devotes his life to the search for this world beneath the world. He eventually discovers the entrance to Subterranea in the caverns of Monster Island. He quickly becomes the ruler of this world populated by Moloids, beings with big eyes and yellowish skin. Regularly, the Mole Man tries to invade the surface and take control of the world. He is always quickly sent back to the shadows of the sewers by the Fantastic Four. He is a cult character from the Fantastic Four universe, somewhat fallen into disuse due to his limited power compared to the rest of the Marvel universe. He was also parodied in The Incredibles.
5) Franklin and Valeria Richards
They haven't been confirmed in the film yet, but it would still be a good way to introduce Franklin and Valeria Richards into the MCU. The children of Reed Richards and Sue Storm are iconic characters from The House of Ideas. They first appeared in 1968, but it was mainly in the early 2000s that they gained prominence. Franklin Richards is one of the most powerful characters in the entire Marvel Universe. He can travel through time and dimensions, create entire universes, he controls telepathy and telekinesis, and he possesses cosmic awareness. To give you a concrete example, in Secret Wars (2015), he makes Galactus his guard dog. As for Valeria, she is much less powerful than her brother, but she is considered one of the most brilliant minds on all planet Earth. It would be interesting to see their first appearance in Fantastic Four: Beginning, without them yet being the unbeatable heroes of the comics.
4) Uatu
After all, Uatu only appeared in the animated series What If…?. Present from the start, first as a narrator, then as an actor in the series, Uatu deserves a live-action appearance. Logically, the character voiced by Jeffrey Wright could appear in the next Avengers. What if Uatu arrived earlier than expected, in Fantastic Four for example? As a reminder, Uatu is a watcher, a Guardian of time and space. His mission is to observe the greatest upheavals in the Marvel universe without ever intervening. Except that at the end of What If…? Uatu broke his oath. And we wonder what the rest of his trajectory will be within the MCU.
3) The Beyonder
Will the Beyonder be introduced someday or not? In the Secret Wars and Secret Wars comics, on which the Russo brothers will base the next two Avengers, the Beyonder plays a central role in these two plots. Created in 1984 by Jim Shooter, specifically for the purposes of Secret Wars, the Beyonder is an omnipotent cosmic being. Originally, he was an extra-dimensional being, coming from a universe beyond the known multiverse: the Beyond-Realm. He is not human, but he adopts a human form in most of his appearances. Totally omniscient, he plays with the Marvel characters, manipulating them like puppets. In Secret Wars, Doom manages to kill the Beyonder and steals his powers to become God Emperor Doom! It's unclear if the Beyonder will play a role in the MCU, but if so, he could be introduced in Fantastic Four.
2) Molecule Man
Remember that John Malkovich is confirmed to be in the cast of Fantastic Four – Beginnings in a role that's still being kept secret? So maybe he could play Mole Man or Beyonder. What if John Malkovich is actually the future Mole Man of the MCU? Molecule Man plays a pivotal role in Secret Wars. It is thanks to him that Fatalis can kill the Beyonder and regain his powers. Capable of reshaping reality, Molecule Man, as his name suggests, can control any molecule. This gives him immeasurable power. It is believed that Molecule Man could be in Fantastic Four: The Beginning. He could even be the one who allows the Fantastic Four to change dimensions. And perhaps he will play the role of the Beyonder and be killed by Fatalis at the beginning of Doomsday.
If Doom doesn't appear in Fantastic Four: Beginning, it would be the very first time in the history of live-action adaptations of this cult Marvel team. It's hard to imagine Fantastic Four without Doom. However, the famous Dr. Doom is not yet confirmed in the film's cast. Will Robert Downey Jr. make his debut as Doom in Fantastic Four or will we have to wait for Avengers: Doomsday? It's hard to say... However, logically, Marvel Studios should consider introducing Doom as early as Fantastic Four to allow the relationship between Doom and Sue Storm to develop.
