Fantastic Four: Silver Surfer finally makes an appearance in this new trailer

Galactus is hungry, and Earth is on the menu! The new Fantastic Four trailer finally reveals the Silver Surfer... and his master's gargantuan appetite. Prepare for a 1960s-style cosmic battle.

Fantastic Four: Silver Surfer finally makes an appearance in this new trailer

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has just released a new trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps. It shows Reed Richards' team as globalized stars, ready to... face their most titanic threat yet: Galactus, the planet-eater. Between births, stretching, and interstellar surfing, the film promises an explosive mix of family drama and cosmic chaos.

While the Fantastic Four, Reed (Pedro Pascal), Sue (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny (Joseph Quinn), and Ben (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), are enjoying global fame, their lives are turned upside down with the arrival of a... baby. Yes, Sue and Reed are expecting a child. But being close to happiness doesn't prevent danger: a silver silhouette appears in the sky, announcing the imminent arrival of Galactus. "Your world has been chosen to be destroyed," says the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner.

60s, cosmic surfing and baby mutant

The trailer focuses on a retro-futuristic aesthetic, a nod to the original comics from the 1960s. Amid the stylized buildings and vintage costumes, one question remains: how will this family of superheroes manage a simultaneous nursery and apocalypse?

The Silver Surfer, messenger of Galactus, seems connected to Reed's space experiments. "I've pushed the boundaries of space," he admits, perhaps too curious for his own good. Shots of titanic feet crushing cities and looming shadows hint at Galactus, even if the giant remains off-screen.

Special effects-wise, Mr. Fantastic's elastic powers are cartoon chic, a far cry from the dark realism of The Avengers. A deliberate choice, reminiscent of the offbeat spirit of the comics.

Another pivot of the story: Reed and Sue's baby. In the comics, it's Franklin Richards, a mutant capable of reshaping reality. A major asset against Galactus... and a potential bridge to the introduction of the X-Men into the MCU. Realized by Matt Shakman (WandaVision)
