FF7 Remake: a first Nintendo Switch 2 vs PS5 comparison

FF7 Remake: a first Nintendo Switch 2 vs PS5 comparison

For its launch window, the Nintendo Switch 2 is bringing out the big guns with two exclusives that should sell consoles upon release: Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. In order to expand the line-up and catch up with the competition, the Japanese manufacturer has also approached third-party publishers for a whole series of diverse and varied ports. This is the case of Square Enix with the remastering of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy and FF7 Remake Intergrade.

A PS5 and Switch 2 comparison for FF7 Remake Intergrade

The announcements during the Nintendo Switch 2 presentation were numerous. Among all the games shown, Big N confirmed a persistent rumor with the port of FF7 Remake Intergrade, which is already an improved port of the PS4 game available on PS5 and PC. Given the scale of this AAA game, many people are wondering if the Switch 2 will be able to handle it without too much difficulty. Although it is advisable to remain cautious, a first video comparison based on trailers between the PS5 version and the one on Nintendo Switch 2 was put online by the YouTube channel Cycu1.

Is FF7 Remake Intergrade promising? Apparently, yes, but obviously, don't expect quality equivalent to the PS5 and PC versions. While some images are virtually identical, differences are already noticeable. Indeed, the port will have a lower resolution and frame rate, less precise and detailed shadows and textures, among other things. As a result, FF7 Remake Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2 will necessarily be blurrier and less fluid. It will also be a question of whether the frame rate can be maintained at around 30fps, or if we will see violent drops during busy scenes. And then, like on Switch, the portable format will also play a role for many people.
