HP extends its Gaming Omen range with PC components

HP will be expanding its Omen lineup significantly; in addition to dedicated gaming desktops and laptops, it will also begin offering individual components.

The brand's website features a series of individual 120x25mm RGB fans, a 120x28mm triple fan fan block, a 1000W modular ATX power supply, and two all-in-one liquid cooling blocks: a 240mm one with an LCD screen and a 360mm ARGB one. The full list is available directly on the brand's website.

Note that the power supply uses a 12VHPWR connector, the same one that now equips Nvidia graphics cards like the RTX 4090 and 5090... on which it has the annoying habit of melting.

Barely out, the connectors of the RTX 5090 are already starting to melt

Rest assured, however; Most experts who have looked into the issue have attributed these malfunctions to the way this connector is wired inside these high-end GPUs, so the Omen PSU should theoretically not suffer from this issue.

Other points worth noting compared to all-in-one liquid cooling blocks: the smaller of the two has an LCD display that shows the CPU and GPU temperatures, and it is apparently possible to go up to 10 fans come standard on both models to limit the number of cables.

For the moment, these components are not yet available for sale. Neither release dates nor prices seem to have been revealed. But it is always interesting to see new players entering this market where competition is fierce, both because well-known brands already dominate the market and because many smaller, unknown brands are also trying to make a place for themselves with very aggressive pricing. Is the HP Omen poised to become a heavyweight in this sector, or would the brand have been better off staying in its preferred field of pre-assembled machines? We'll see you in a few months for the answer.
