Currently, Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog, is in the middle of a promotional tour for the various previews of season 2 of The Last Of Us on HBO, the first episode of which is expected on April 14 in France, on HBO Max. It was during one of the previews that the Game Director of Naughty Dog games, including the next Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, dropped a rather interesting bit of information.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, development continues well
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be the next game from the Naughty Dog studio. More than five years after the release of The Last Of Us Part II, the studio's latest new game. But above all, more than 13 years after the release of the first installment of The Last Of Us, which remains the latest new license to date from the Californian studio.
It's therefore quite an event for the studio and for the fans. Since the creation of Naughty Dog in September 1984, only ten licenses and 21 games have been published by the Dogs.
Unfortunately, we'll have to be patient, since according to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, the game wouldn't be expected before 2027, at best. However, development seems to be progressing well. During a preview for season 2 of The Last Of Us, Neil Druckmann confirmed that the game had reached an important milestone and that it was now partially playable at the studio.
So of course, this remains meager and doesn't tell us anything more about the game. But, it seems that things are progressing well and smoothly for the Dogs. The development of a video game is relatively long and goes through many stages such as production, active development, testing sessions and the assembly of the different parts of the game. It is therefore encouraging to see that progress is being made on this side for Intergalactic.
As a reminder, Naughty Dog is far from resting on its laurels. Currently, the studio is reportedly working on no fewer than three projects, with The Last Of Us Part III, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and a mysterious project that has been underway for three years and is reportedly being directed by Shaun Escayg, the Game Director of the stand alone Uncharted The Lost Legacy in 2017.
