With its Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo hasn't made many friends. With a frightening price, few games at launch, and few major differences from its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch 2 is far from unanimously popular. However, the console will sell out, just like its Pro Controller, which is already listed as out of stock on Nintendo's official website. At the same time, it must be said that the new Pro Controller has a big advantage over the first Switch.
A Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller with a big advantage
Faced with a recommended price of €469.99, it's hard to fall under the spell of the Nintendo Switch 2. Despite its new features, its tempting Mario Kart World and its promise of 4K/60 FPS once docked, Nintendo's next console hasn't convinced even the most skeptical. And for good reason: we're a long way from the Nintendo Switch's 299 euros at launch. A big price difference that Nintendo doesn't necessarily justify, surely aligning itself with the methods used by PlayStation with its PlayStation 5 Pro. After all, as long as it sells, it's hard to blame the Japanese giants.
Despite everything, to catch your eye, the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, displayed at 89.99 euros on both the Nintendo store and Amazon, it arrives with a significant advantage over its little sister. On the official Nintendo website, the technical specifications of the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller have been shared, and there are improvements. Thus, we can read that:
- A USB charging cable is included;
- The controller has a C button to open the GameChat menu at any time;
- GL/GR buttons are freely configurable;
- An audio jack (CTIA standard 4-pole 3.5mm stereo mini-jack) for connecting headphones or earphones is available;
- The presence of HD2 vibrations;
- Possible motion controls;
- A integrated amiibo;
- The existence of a screenshot button and the C button for GameChat;
But above all, the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller can be fully charged in 3.5 hours, compared to 6 hours for its predecessor. And like the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller offers 40 hours of play on a full charge. Although the battery life of the two Pro Controllers is similar, the charging time may well convince some.
With its 1070mAh battery, compared to 1300mAh for the original, the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller can still boast of being charged more quickly. As for weight, a slight improvement: 235 grams compared to 246 grams for the original. A more powerful Pro controller but also more expensive than the previous one, which could well convince some players to pay. It remains to be seen if there will be many, and especially if you think you'll be tempted. To answer us, head to the comments section just below.
