The Nintendo Switch 2 is available for pre-order a few hours after its official presentation. You can already buy it from various Nintendo partner retailers. We'll tell you where to pre-order it at the best price.
You probably haven't missed the fact that Nintendo officially unveiled the Switch 2 on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, during a highly anticipated conference. After several years of waiting, the first generation of the hybrid console finally has its replacement. The Switch 2 will debut on June 5, 2025, with exclusive titles in the catalog, including the new Mario Kart World game. The console is also offered as a bundle with the game if you want to buy them as a pack.
Nintendo's various partner retailers have therefore not waited until April 8, 2025, to launch pre-orders, the date announced by the company during its conference.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order: where to buy the console at the best price?
The Switch 2 is available for pre-order at the recommended price of €469.99. The bundle with the Mario Kart World game costs €40 more, or €509.99. As a reminder, the recommended price of Mario Kart World is €89.99, but E.Leclerc is offering it at the best price at €69.90. The bundle is therefore cheaper and saves you €50 on the whole thing, which is not insignificant when you consider that prices are rising.
The current best price on the Nintendo Switch 2 is therefore €469.99 if you buy it alone or €509.99 for the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle. This bundle is more advantageous if you also intend to buy the game. These prices are those generally found at different retailers.
Nintendo Switch 2: what's new?
The Switch 2 introduces several new features, both technically and in terms of aesthetics and functionality. We start with the design, which remains generally close to that of the original model, with some subtle but quite visible changes.
First of all, the format is a little larger, since we go from a 6.2-inch screen for the Switch 1 to 7.9 inches for the Switch 2. The gain in size is not insignificant and is partly explained by the thinner edges of the screen. The console is also a little larger with dimensions of 116 × 270 x 14 mm with the Joy-Con. These now attach magnetically to the screen and offer an integrated mouse function.
As a reminder, the original Switch measures 102 × 239 × 13.9 mm. We therefore note a slight increase in length and width, but the thickness is almost the same. Note also that Nintendo has chosen to switch to an LCD type screen, skipping the OLED of the 2021 version. This technology would undoubtedly have increased the already much higher bill compared to the first generation.
However, Big N announces excellent display quality with a wide range of colors and compatibility with HDR10 for deep contrasts. We also go from 720p for the Switch 1 to 1080p for the Switch 2, i.e. double the definition. With the dock, and therefore in TV mode, the Nintendo Switch 2 is compatible with 4K at 60 frames per second. The refresh rate goes up to 120 Hz in 1080p or 1440p.
For the rest, the Switch 2 integrates a new processor created by Nvidia. The brand does not give any more details on the chip. We only know that it is more powerful. The new console also offers 256 GB of internal storage, 8 times the capacity of the first version. This provides more space to store games and saves.
Nintendo also tells us that the internal memory is faster and allows games to load even faster. Of course, it is always possible to expand the storage capacity with an SD card. Another thing to remember is that the Switch 2 only supports the higher-performance microSD Express cards, so you won't be able to use your older SD cards.
Finally, regarding features, Nintendo gave a long presentation of the new C button on the Joy-Con, which allows you to activate GameChat. This feature allows players to chat with each other (up to 12 people), with the ability to share their screen in real time, even if they are playing different games. We invite you to consult our complete file on the Nintendo Switch 2 to learn more about the console.
