One Piece 1147: The Divine Knights' Objective Revealed

Chapter 1147 of One Piece shows the end of the fight between Gunko and part of the Mugiwara crew. It's a resounding defeat for him, the woman having outmatched and captured them. This impressive display of strength places Elbaf in a very delicate situation. Unable to retaliate, the giants suffer the wrath of the Divine Knights and their terrible plan. Throughout the chapter, Sommers speaks to explain the situation. He mentions ten children being held hostage, but more importantly, the reason for their capture. Sommers reveals that they want to make the giants "battle slaves." This echoes Gunko's words in Chapter 1146, where she spoke of a "gigantic battle" in which the giants will play a crucial role. However, despite this assurance, one element could jeopardize this plan, and that is the Divine Knights' greatest fear.

Luffy is the Divine Knights' greatest fear.

The beginning of Chapter 1147 certainly shows the Divine Knights' superiority, but also their fears. When Sommers offers to take the Mugiwara with them, Killingham refuses, saying he doesn't want to mess with Luffy. His sidekick says the same thing when Gunko is putting Brook through his paces. This is quite paradoxical, as the Divine Knights have proven themselves to be extremely powerful. In fact, just before that, we learn that they are immortal. One less reason to be afraid, and yet, they fear Luffy.

Over the past few years, we've seen Luffy grow up and become an Emperor. He has defeated many powerful opponents, making him one of the greatest threats to the World Government. However, the fear of the Divine Knights can also be explained by another element revealed by Gunko herself. Indeed, she admitted that her greatest fear was Nika. However, Luffy is directly linked to Nika since he possesses the Hito Hito no Mi, Nika model. The Sun God is the enemy of Imu, which makes Luffy a natural enemy of the power in place. This fear is therefore fully justified, and not only long term.

The confrontation with the Divine Knights approaches

If the Divine Knights fear Luffy, it is not only for what he represents, but also for what he is capable of doing to them at this moment. During the Egghead arc, Luffy proved that he could stand up to the Gorosei. Despite their power of regeneration, which prevented him from defeating them, he demonstrated impressive strength. He could therefore do the same with the Divine Knights, or even go further.

On Egghead, it was observed that an exceptional detonation of Haki of the Kings could send people teleported across the Abyss back to their original location. If Luffy is able to reproduce this feat, he could seriously compromise the Divine Knights' plan. Better yet, according to this theory, the power of regeneration would be linked to the Abyss, and if this is confirmed, it would be a very bad omen for the antagonists. To make matters worse for them, Scopper Gaban is on his way to recover his son. The next chapters promise to be intense, both for the Divine Knights and for us!
