Google is preparing a major overhaul of its sharing tool on Android. Quick Share will soon adopt a more classic presentation, with enhanced features. A discreet update announces the arrival of new tabs to better organize sending and receiving files.
File sharing between devices has become essential for smartphone users. For several years, solutions like AirDrop on iOS have popularized the idea of quick and simple exchanges. Google followed this trend with Quick Share, a service integrated into Android for sending files without a direct internet connection. Launched at the end of 2024, this app has also been extended to Windows PCs to facilitate the secure transfer of documents, photos, and videos without going through third-party services. Now, the latter is preparing a new face, more complete and more intuitive.
Thanks to an analysis of the latest update of Google Play Services, clues about the future interface of Quick Share have been spotted. The service will no longer be limited to a simple option in the sharing menu, but will function as a true standalone application. This redesign will introduce two separate tabs: “Receive” to manage incoming requests, and “Send” to manually select files to transmit.

The “Receive” tab will allow users to view in real time the devices that are trying to send them a file, as well as their own visibility status. For its part, the “Send” tab will modernize file sending by adding an option “Add files”, offering more control over the choice of items to share. This change will make Quick Share more practical and more visible, similar to a classic application installed on the phone.
Furthermore, Google is also preparing a redesign of the Quick Share settings page, particularly the one concerning sharing permissions. The first images show a cleaner interface that is more consistent with the rest of Android. While the rollout date for this new look remains unknown, the advanced state of development suggests an imminent arrival. Some design elements have already been spotted in leaks related to One UI 8, which confirms that the launch could take place in the months to come.
