It's been a long time since we've heard anything about Rayman. Too long, some might say. But things may be moving. Ubisoft, through its Montpellier studio, seems to be preparing the return of the famous hero without arms or legs. And this isn't just an idle rumor.
Job offers that speak volumes for Rayman
It all started with several new recruitment announcements published by Ubisoft Montpellier. Among them, several directly mention “the Rayman brand”. Others speak of a yet unannounced project. Enough to raise serious hopes among long-time fans.
The project in question remains mysterious. Is it a brand new game? An anticipated remake? A compilation? For now, Ubisoft remains silent. But between the lines, everything suggests that a return of Rayman is indeed in the works.
A legend on pause
Since Rayman Legends in 2013, the character has remained discreet. Of course, he made a few appearances, notably in Mario + Rabbids or the Captain Laserhawk series. But nothing really notable. And above all, no solo adventure worthy of the name. Yet, fans have never forgotten. Rayman Origins and Legends are still considered gems of 2D platforming today. And Rayman, despite the years, retains its popularity intact.
Ubisoft is going through a difficult period. Between postponements, restructuring, and series struggling to renew themselves, the time may be right to bring Rayman back. A simpler, more colorful, more fun game could bring a little freshness to the studio's catalog. What if Ubisoft didn't intend to limit itself to a single game? The fact that job offers talk about "the Rayman brand" and not just a specific game could also suggest a larger project, or even a real recovery plan. Officially, nothing has been announced yet. But between the signals sent by Ubisoft and the still-lively anticipation of players, the ground seems ready. Rayman could well return where we least expected him. And frankly, it was about time.
