Presented as the game capable of shaking up the dominance of The Sims, InZOI had everything going for it. A modern graphics engine, a complete character editor, more realistic interactions... and a clear positioning: offering a credible alternative to a franchise established for more than 20 years. But after a thunderous launch, the hype suddenly fell.
Our complete guide to InZOi
A meteoric start for inZOI mais...
Released in early access On March 28, 2025, InZOI immediately made headlines. The title developed by Krafton sold more than a million copies, with a peak of 87,000 concurrent players on Steam. An impressive performance for a new license, which gave hope for a lasting rise.
But barely two weeks later, the reality is quite different: the number of players has fallen by 85%, reaching a peak of only 8,477 players on April 15. A figure lower than those recorded by The Sims 4… even in its slowest hours.
An inevitable comparison with The Sims
It must be said that InZOI has never hidden its ambition: to offer a real alternative to The Sims. Its creative director, Kim “Kjun” Hyung-jun, stated it from the start: this project was born from a promise made to his son to compete with the giant EA. As a result, the comparisons are constant, sometimes benevolent, often virulent.
Some point out that The Sims 4, at When it was released in 2014, it was also heavily criticized. No pool, little content, unresponsive AI... It took years of updates and expansions for the game to gain traction. Inzoi, on the other hand, is still under construction. So should we really draw conclusions so quickly?
Content still too light?
This is where the debate rages. Because while InZOI is appealing in terms of graphics, interface, and freedom, many players point to a lack of depth. Once the wonder has passed, the experience can quickly go round in circles. Interactions sometimes lack naturalness, and some life simulation mechanics still seem in their early stages.
The developers, for their part, want to be reassuring. A complete roadmap has already been published, detailing the updates planned for 2025. New features, more advanced progression systems, and new content are in preparation. The promise is clear: InZOI is an evolving game, which will grow month after month.
