This year, for May the 4th, Disney+ is pulling out all the stops. A few days after the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, the American platform has a nice surprise in store for its fans around the world. On the occasion of the global Star Wars event, born from a play on words, it will present a new animated anthology in the direct line of Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire. Called Tales of the Underworld, the project will focus on two characters much appreciated by the spectators.
Ventress and Bane in the spotlight
A first trailer has just been shared and confirms that Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane will be at the epicenter of the story. For the former, it will be about immortalizing the moment when she abandons Count Dooku to return to the Nightsisters. The synopsis specifies that she “will flee alongside an ally unexpected”.We can therefore expect to discover more about this complex and mysterious personality from the Star Wars mythology.
The second character to be given episodes of this series, Cad Bane makes his big return. As the trailer suggests, he will have to confront his past and an old friend who has followed a very different path from his own. Appearing in The Clones Wars, The Bad Batch and even The Book of Boba Fett, the character who was previously secondary becomes the hero of his own adventure.
We can also see him confronting one of his companions, with an aesthetic and an approach that is not without reminiscent of westerns. The bounty hunter clearly has more than one trick up his sleeve.
The date is therefore set for May 4th on Disney+. Dave Filoni is producing this animated series, which takes an anthology form to convince viewers. He is the director and is adapting a screenplay written by Matt Michnovetz.
This year, viewers will have plenty to do on May 4th with the broadcast of Andor season 2, the return of the series Light & Magic from April 18th. As a reminder, the documentary series takes the audience behind the scenes of the special effects and digital effects studio that brought the saga to life. Having become a monument in the industry, ILM reveals the secrets behind the making of the biggest blockbusters of recent years.
