The Galaxy S25 gains two small new features with this new update

It's been a long time coming, but Samsung is rolling out the security update April 2025 update for Galaxy S25 series smartphones. This brings the traditional security fixes and stability optimizations expected from this type of patch, but also two small new features to enhance the experience on the brand's latest high-end devices.

The update brings a new charging animation when the smartphone is connected by USB cable or placed on a wireless charging station. The battery level icon at the top right of the status bar now animates on a green background, which gives a more polished visual effect than before. This style, however, remains more sober than the loading animation of certain overlays from Chinese manufacturers, such as OnePlus.

Security patches for the Galaxy S25, but not only

We also observe the integration of a multimedia player with an updated design in the notifications panel. It becomes possible to access the playback controls by pressing the live notification that appears at the top left in the status bar. The widget remains unchanged in the Quick Settings menu.

These two new features are not exclusive, they had already been spotted on the recent stable version of One UI 7 for the Galaxy S24. If you haven't received a notification to install the update, go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install to check if it's available. Its rollout is gradual: it was pushed to South Korea a few days ago and has just arrived in Australia, India and a few other markets. Europe should be served very soon, if not already.

After finally managing to deploy One UI 7 on older models, Samsung will be able to work more calmly on improving it, while waiting for One UI 8, a version for which we already know compatible mobiles.
